Get Started as a Charity

How does my charity get started?

Step 1
REGISTER.

Step 2
To Register with AidArena as a Charity you must submit your ABN and DGR (Deductible Gift Recipient) details.

AidArena will notify you when we have validated your details. You can then proceed with finalising your online Registration.

Step 3
Once registered, the AidArena website is yours to create your own AidArena profile page, to explain your cause, to promote specific appeals or to add other DGR’s that relate to your ABN.

Construct your biography, upload your logo and create a link from AidArena to your own website.

Step 4
We highly recommend you implement the AidArena banner with the source code we provide, on to your own website. This banner will promote your participation in AidArena and will link directly to your own AidArena profile page. This will give visitors an opportunity to bid on any of your currents auctions and to donate items and services that will directly benefit your causes.

Step 5
Actively promote your participation in AidArena so that donors can auction items/services and select your Charity to be the beneficiary of the sale proceeds. AidArena will manage the collection, transfer and reimbursement of funds and issue tax deductible receipts to donors on your behalf.

Step 6
Your Charity may also wish to use AidArena to auction items you have in your possession.

Step 7
Refer to the “Helpful Downloads” on your AidArena home page for suggested ideas and tips to promote your participation in AidArena.

Please Contact us on info@aidarena.com if you require further assistance.

Deductible Gift Recipients (DGR) Organisations?

A Deductible Gift Recipient (DGR) is entitled to receive income tax deductible gifts. All DGRs have to be endorsed by the Tax Office unless they are named specifically in the income tax law. There are two types of DGR endorsement:

  • Entities in their own right
  • An entity that is only a DGR in relation to a fund, authority or institution it operates

For the second type, only gifts to the fund, authority or institution are tax deductible. For more information on tax-deductible donations and how to obtain DGR status please visit the ATO website.

How to check if an organisation is a DGR

To check if an organisation is a DGR, visit the ATO website. A list of all DGR endorsed entities and DGR funds can be downloaded here.

To check your charity or funds registered name and/or ABN you can use the ATO's ABN lookup service.
