Palliative care aims to comfort, not to cure; to relieve pain and distress for people who are dying, and to support parents, families and friends in approaching death and healing grief. We foster and promote community awareness of palliative care bringing together the many health and other disciplines involved in caring for people who are dying. While advances in treatment are improving survival, for those whom treatments fail, palliative care offers help and support in addressing the sometimes distressing symptoms of terminal illness.
